Face & Body

As August rolls around, many close out their summer by hitting up beaches, yachting around in the Amalfi Coast, or jet-setting to mega-resorts like Disneyworld! No matter where you go this summer, your skincare routine should never take the backseat. Whether it’s a 5 hour drive or a 10 hour flight, travelling can be hard on your skin so we want to make this transition as easy as possible for your skin. You’re likely somewhere with different humidity and temperature, meaning your skin is going to have to adjust. Different types of weather can affect your skin in many different ways giving you dry spots on your skin and even acne breakouts. Here are my favorite products and best tips for keeping your face glowing and flawless while jet-setting or road-tripping around!

Keep Your Skin Moisturized

Moisturizing is one of the most important steps of our skincare routine. We need to keep our skin hydrated to maintain the healthy barrier that keeps bad bacteria out of our pores. When you change environments, you might be tempted to change the amount of moisturizer you’re putting on your face. Don’t fall for this! Make sure you always apply a nice, even layer of product across your face and neck, even if you’re in a hot climate. I love KD Skincare's Day Dreammoisturizer for daily moisturizing because it really hydrates my skin while diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. I also recommend bringing a travel spray to refresh and replenish your skin throughout the day. The KD Lavender & Sea Salt Hydramist Infusion is the perfect product because its blend of witch hazel and green tea will refresh and soothe dull, tired skin. Just whip it out on the go for glowing, rejuvenated skin!

The Sun Is Everywhere— Protect Your Skin!

It’s tempting to skip out sunscreen step when you travel to a colder climate, but applying sun protection is essential to keeping our skin healthy. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen on the plane too! Studies have shown that flight attendants and pilots are at a much higher risk of developing skin cancer because they are so much closer to the sun on a regular basis. Remember to apply sunscreen even when it’s cold or cloudy outside because about 80% of the sun’s UV rays penetrate through clouds and fog. I recommend the KD Clear Sheer Sunscreen to protect your skin. Not only will it offer broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, but it will nourish your skin with antioxidants and Vitamin C to bring out that radiant glow you've been longing for!

Keep Your Skin Hydrated

What could be better for your skin then what the skin cells are made of (Water!). Not only is this tip eco-friendly and cost-friendly, but it will remind you to hydrate more frequently! A refillable water bottle is one of my favorite travel companions because no matter where I'm travelling. For the active traveler, a hike in through the lush Hawaiian Tropics could leave you and your skin feeling tired and dehydrated. I always recommend drinking about 2 liters of water per day for optimal hydration. Drinking water will make sure that you and your skin are in top notch condition!

You may forget about you skin when traveling but you skin sure didn't forget about you. Remember to moisturize using the KD Skincare's Day Dream moisturizer, keep your skin fresh with the KD Lavender & Sea Salt Hydramist Infusion spray, use a sunscreen like the KD Clear Sheer Sunscreen which has Vitamin C that will keep your skin nourished, and lastly don’t forget to stay hydrated by drinking lots and lots of water. A great water bottle to keep with you to help ensure you stay hydrated is the HydroFlask! I love this water bottle because it comes in an array of cute colors and keeps water colder than any other reusable bottle that I've tried. If you keep to these simple procedures in keeping your skin in shape you will see much less of the negative effects traveling can have on your skin.
