Are all bacterias bad? When we hear the word “bacteria”, we immediately assume it’s best to get rid of them. Microbiomes consist of fungi, bacteria, and viruses that live inside and on our bodies, but these are the bacterias you want to preserve!
What Do Microbiomes Do For our Health, Beauty, and Skin?
- Protects us from other bad bacteria. Microbiomes act as colonizers and they can protect us from diseases such as pathogenic organisms. This can occur if you consume food or drinks that have been contaminated.
- Aid with food digestion. Microbiomes can communicate with other intestinal cells to help us improve our digestive system. This can protect us from bacteria attaching themselves to our intestinal walls and causing disease. This bacteria is capable of keeping our gut healthy.
- Protects our skin from environmental aggressors. This bacteria can aid in healing our wounds, control allergen exposure, and prevent oxidative damage.
Do’s for Microbiome Skincare/Preservation
- Use products that contain clean and simplified ingredients. I recommend using my Clean Green Antioxidant Cleanser! It is rich in antioxidants and natural botanicals to help restore and brighten our skin.
- Don’t go crazy on your skincare products. Remember, less is more. Using too much of one product can cause your pores to be clogged. If you notice this issue, try out my Acne Kit. This bundle contains an acne wash, acne treatment pads, oil-free moisturizer, and acne spot treatment.
- Use a high-grade moisturizer! KD Skincare provides many moisturizers for all types of skin! You can try my Deep Blue Hydration, Tighten and Brighten Vitamin C Serum, and Smoother and Sheer Moisturizer.
Don’ts for Microbiome Skincare
- Do not use skincare products with harsh ingredients. Refrain from using harsh soaps or hand sanitizers. If you are unsure of what products to opt for, I recommend consulting with a dermatologist to figure out what ingredients work well with your skin type.
- Do not over-exfoliate! Although it’s important to cleanse your skin from all the impurities, it’s also important to regulate how many times you do it. Exfoliating too much can cause your skin to become dry, flaky, and rough. This can cause your skin to become more prone to irritation and acne. This concept does not only apply to the face but also to our scalp. Washing your hair too much can strip away those natural oils, causing your hair to be dry and suffer from hair loss and hair damage.
