- Make moisturizer MANDATORY. The air is still cold and dry in January, you need to keep your skin hydrated and supple. Dry skin leads to wrinkles anyways, so make sure to include this step into your routine!
- Always wear SPF. UV rays still exist even on cloudy days-don't wait to check if the sun is visible to put on that sunscreen. SPF is one of the biggest ways to prevent aging.
- Exfoliate or use a mask once a week. Even with moisturizer, your skin may have collected more debris and dead skin cells than usual because of the dry weather. Using an exfoliator, sheet mask, or wash-off mask will help your skin remove excess dirt and grime and keep your face fresh and clean!
- Clean your phone and other frequently used electronic devices. Everytime you touch your phone, you're transferring germs onto it, and when you put your phone to your ear to pick up a phone call, the germs go on your face. Use alcohol wipes to regularly clean your devices.
- Also clean your pillow sheets once a week. So much oil, germs, and sweat builds up on pillow cases! Especially for side-sleepers or those who move around in their sleep, there's a high chance for all that nasty oil and germs to transfer onto your face. Keep a habit of washing your pillow cases regularly.
- Take care of your neck! Run that moisturizer or lotion down to your neck as well. You get wrinkles in your neck too, so it needs equal care!
- Use a face serum regularly. For glowing, healthy-looking skin, these effective, targeted remedies can go a long way in hydrating and toning the face. Apply a few drops onto clean skin to apply the product over the face.
- Adopt a lymphatic massage technique into your skincare routine, especially in the mornings. Implementing tools such as a gua-sha, or a jade roller, can really help with not just contouring the face over time but also with bringing increased circulation to the face, de-puffing it and making it appear more youthful.
- Switch to clean or medical-grade beauty. Don't just go for the cheapest option, or the options that smell the best - these products are usually made with parabens and sulfates that are very damaging to the skin. Look for marks on beauty websites that state that the product was made without those harmful ingredients. Only use the best on your face!
- Last but not least, treat yourself to regular facials! The last couple years took a toll on us all, both physically and mentally. Show your face some love and indulge in this self-care action!
