What are transforming growth factors in general?

Transforming Growth Factors (otherwise known as TGF) are natural substances created inside your body that are essential for collagen promotion and skin repair. They improve skin appearance and texture, creating a youthful appearance for your skin. Unfortunately, cells in aging skin make fewer growth factors than cells in younger skin. The application of these growth factors can stimulate additional skin repair and combat skin aging and blemishes.

What are the different types of transforming growth factors?

There are two main groups of transforming growth factors: Transforming Growth Factor- Alpha (TGFα) and Transforming Growth Factor- Beta (TGFβ). Of those two, TGFβ is the only growth factor classified into three forms: TGFβ1, TGFβ2, and TGFβ3. TGFβ1 is the growth factor form most common in mammals; it is found throughout the body and is essential for cell proliferation, differentiation, development, and regulation. This is the form used in my stem cell growth factor serum and scar gel for optimal skin repair!

How is Transforming Growth Factor Beta-1 derived?

So, where does Transforming Growth Factor Beta-1 come from? TGFβ1 is primarily derived from human skin cells, bone marrow stem cells, and fat-stem cells. It contains proteins extracted naturally from fibroblast (skin cell) cultures. TGFβ1 does not contain any traces of human fetuses or placentas! Instead, many products use a blend of different growth factors-- such as TGFβ1, various vitamins and nutrients-- to create a nourishing mixture for your skin.

Benefits of Transforming Growth Factor Beta-1 on Skin

Have you wondered what the benefits of Transforming Growth Factor Beta-1 are on your skin? TGFβ1 helps you regenerate younger and healthier skin! By using skincare products with a high concentration of TGFβ1 and other stable transforming growth factors, you can help reduce the appearance of blemishes such as discoloration, wrinkles, and lines. Furthermore, transforming growth factors have also been shown to improve skin tone and texture.

TGFβ1 is a substance naturally created by your skin. It supports the repair of aging and environmentally damaged skin. By promoting the formation of collagen and elastin, TGFβ1 helps keep your skin both firm and elastic.

By incorporating Vitamin C-- an antioxidant that works by repairing skin damage-- and Vitamin E-- a moisturizer with antioxidant properties-- the Growth Factor serum is effectively able to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.

Transforming Growth Factors and Scars

Scars: Why We Get Them and How to Prevent Them

Why do we get scars? Acne scars are our body’s response to breakouts. When clogged pores become inflamed and break, their contents can spread into the surrounding skin and tissue, damaging them. In order to repair this damage, your body creates collagen; it’s when imprecise amounts of collagen are produced that scars can form. There are several effective ways to stop acne scarring:

First, don’t pop your pimples! When you pop pimples, you release the contents of inflamed pores into your surrounding tissue, which makes scars all the more likely to form.

Second, maintain your skin. Simple things like consistently applying sunscreen and moisturizing your skin go a long way in preventing scarring and minimizing their appearance.

Third, take care of your breakouts. Prevention is the best solution! By stopping acne breakouts in the first place, you’re much, much less likely to see any acne scars at all!

Lastly, there are treatments available for those scars that just won’t go away. Chemical peels, micro-needling, and laser skin resurfacing are all popular options to combat acne scarring. That being said, the recent, growing popularity of transforming growth factors signify that they are another one of the many possible solutions out there.

Do transforming growth factors help with scars?

Transforming growth factors may have anti-scar properties that can reduce the appearance of scars on your skin. Skin cell (fibroblast) growth factors have been shown to reduce the size of non-pathological scars in animals and clinical trials. In addition to TGFs, skincare products often also include silicone gel, which is used to combat scarring because of its properties as a skin hydrator and balancer of growth factors. Combined, these two products can effectively reduce the appearance of scarring on your skin.

How does Dr. Kay’s Scar Gel work?

My Scar Gel combines TGFβ1 with powerful antioxidants such as Vitamin E for maximum skin repair. TGFβ1, the star ingredient inside the serum, minimizes the appearance of scars and other blemishes on the skin. Combined with silica, it boosts collagen production for smoother, more supple skin. The addition of dimethicone only increases the anti-blemish properties of the gel and moisturizes the skin to create a silky smooth feel overall.
